Terms & Conditions

By creating an account or using Owlex, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

• You must be at least 13 years old to use Owlex.
• To make purchases (subscriptions) or connect an eBay account, you must have reached the age of majority where you live, or have the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

• Provide accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
• Keep your login credentials secure and do not share your account.
• You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us at support@owlex.co.uk if you suspect unauthorised use.

• Owlex subscriptions are auto-renewing and are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is taken by Apple or Google — not by Owlex. Owlex never processes card payments.
• You manage and cancel your subscription through your Apple or Google account settings, not through Owlex. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period runs to its end.
• Free trials, renewal timing, price changes, and refunds are handled under the app store’s own terms and policies.
• Paid tiers unlock additional capacity and features (such as stock limits, unlimited multi-card scanning, cloud photo backup, and eBay listing allowances) as described in the app’s pricing screen at the time of purchase. Scanning and pricing cards individually are free for all users; multi-card scanning is included on the free tier up to a fixed lifetime allowance, and is unlimited on paid tiers.
• If a subscription lapses, features and capacity return to the free tier’s limits. Your collection data is not deleted because a subscription ends.

Owlex is not a marketplace and is not affiliated with or endorsed by eBay. Owlex lists items to your own eBay account. The sale contract is solely between you (as the seller) and your buyer. Owlex never handles payment for a sale and takes no commission.

To sell, you connect your eBay account through eBay’s OAuth consent flow. Owlex stores an eBay access token (encrypted at rest) only so it can create and manage listings on your behalf. Owlex does not store your eBay password.

All eBay account setup happens on eBay, not in Owlex. Becoming a registered seller, setting up eBay managed payments and linking a bank account, opting into and creating eBay Business Policies (payment, postage, returns), and any identity verification are all completed by you directly on eBay — Owlex simply redirects you to eBay to complete these steps. Owlex controls only the listing content it creates on your behalf; everything else is handled on eBay under eBay’s own terms and policies.

• You are responsible for complying with eBay’s terms, fees, and policies, and for fulfilling every sale you make — including postage, returns, and buyer communication.
• You are responsible for any taxes or legal obligations arising from your sales.
• If you close your eBay account, eBay notifies us and we delete the eBay tokens we hold for you.

• You own your collection data and the card photos you take. We claim no ownership over them.
• You grant Owlex a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the service to you — for example, to identify cards, back up photos on paid tiers, and create eBay listings you request.
• You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of anything you list for sale, including that the item is genuine, correctly described, and yours to sell.

When using Owlex you must not:

• List or sell counterfeit, stolen, or otherwise illegal items.
• Use the service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive.
• Scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data from the service, or access it by any automated means other than the app itself.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, or interfere with its security or operation.
• Resell or misuse pricing data provided through the app.

Card identifications and prices shown in Owlex are best-effort estimates built from third-party data sources. They are provided “as is”, may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and are not a guarantee of a card’s identity, condition, authenticity, or value. Always verify a card and set your own price before selling. Owlex is not responsible for decisions you make based on the estimates it shows.

Owlex works alongside services we do not control — including eBay, the Apple App Store, Google Play, and our data and advertising providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for them. Card game names and trademarks belong to their respective owners; Owlex is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

Owlex is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every card will be identified or priced correctly. Nothing in these Terms affects statutory rights that cannot be excluded by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Owlex will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss — including lost profits, lost sales, or lost data — arising from your use of the service, including any sale made through your eBay account. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for Owlex subscriptions in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

You agree to indemnify Owlex against claims, losses, and costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your listings or sales on eBay, or your violation of any law or third-party right, except to the extent caused by us.

You can stop using Owlex and delete your account at any time by emailing support@owlex.co.uk. We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the service or other users — where reasonable, we will tell you why. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as your content responsibilities, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute — although if you live elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep any protection and forum rights granted by the mandatory consumer laws of the place you live.

We may update these Terms as Owlex evolves. We’ll change the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, let you know in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Owlex after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
